FINALLY, the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) and NBC Bank have announced to make improvements to their sponsorship agreement for the Premier League, from the initial sponsorship of three to five years from the season of 2023/24 to the year 2027/2028.
It should be noted that the initial three-year scholarship was worth shs. Nine billion was from 2021/22 and was expected to end next season of 2023/2024.
So now the new contract will be worth shs. 32.6 billion which includes the sponsorship of the Championship and Youth League under 20 years of age and all will be given the names of the bank after the procedure is completed.
Speaking at the contract signing ceremony, TFF President, Wallace Karia, said the new sponsorship will increase the value of Tanzanian football from the Premier League to the Youth League.
"The partnership with NBC will increase the value of the Tanzania Mainland Premier League, the Championship and the Youth League under the age of 20, which from next season will be played in home and away matches.
"We expect to give the leagues other names after the end of the procedure between us and the sponsors, we are asking the various sponsors to come forward to continue sponsoring the various championships.
He added that in the agreement, TFF will not allow its members to use for any benefit the commercial competitors of the sponsor of the Premier League in Tanzania Mainland.
And the Executive Director of NBC Bank, Theobald Sabi, said that the bank has seen the benefits of sponsoring Tanzanian football and that is the reason for entering into the new agreement.
"Through football in our previous sponsorship, we have seen an increase in the value of our brand, we are proud of that and that is why we started negotiations to increase our sponsorship which will go down to the youth leagues and the Championship, we are very grateful and proud of that
"For the entire period since we started sponsoring the Tanzania Mainland Premier League championship, we have seen great success, including a further increase in the value of our league and occupying the top five positions, including attracting players from abroad who have been coming to be registered in the country," said Sabi.
